Amethyst: A Legendary Stone of Myth, Nobility and Energy

Amethyst: A Legendary Stone of Myth, Nobility and Energy

The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek word "amethystos", which means "a good remedy to prevent drunkenness". Because of its color similar to that of wine, early Greek mythology also associated it with Bacchus, the god of wine.

Legend has it that once Bacchus played a drunken prank and pushed a beautiful maiden named Amethyst in front of a fierce beast. Coincidentally, the goddess Diana witnessed this. To save the maiden from being maimed, she cast a spell and turned the maiden into a white stone sculpture. Bacchus suddenly woke up and was filled with remorse because he found that he had been deeply fascinated by this white statue. In his sadness, the wine in his hand accidentally spilled onto the sculpture. Slowly, the stone actually turned into a beautiful amethyst. To make up for his mistake and to commemorate the maiden, Bacchus named the amethyst after the maiden.

Before large amethyst mining areas were discovered in the 19th century, amethyst was favored by royalty and nobles due to its rarity.

The Duchess of Windsor's necklace was composed of 28 step-cut amethysts, one oval faceted amethyst, one large heart-shaped amethyst, along with turquoise and diamonds.

In Western culture, the color purple usually represents nobility and power. Historically, at least since the time of Alexander the Great, members of the royal family have always admired the deep purple hue of amethyst. In the early days, the production of amethyst was not large, so its price was very expensive. For a long time, only European royalty and nobles could wear amethyst. They believed that the mysterious power contained in amethyst could help them obtain power and status. There were many famous royalty and nobles in history who had worn amethyst.

Amethyst is a relatively rare purple ore in nature. It is called the "Energy Stone" in Japan and the "Eye of Vienna" in Europe. In the Indian yoga chakra theory, the energy emitted by amethyst is a flexible wisdom magnetic field, corresponding to the "Third Eye Chakra" and "Crown Chakra" of the human body.

1. The Symbolic Meanings of Amethyst
Amethyst is the lucky birthstone for those born in February, representing characteristics such as kindness, loyalty, perseverance, and sincerity.

In Western countries, amethyst is regarded as the "Guardian Stone of Love", which can endow couples with deep love, chastity, honesty, and courage.

2. The Functions and Effects of Amethyst
Amethyst is a stone with powerful protective power. It can resist mental attacks, transform negative energy into love energy, and protect the wearer from various harms, including geomagnetic or electromagnetic pressure and the malice of others.

At the same time, it can also protect us from supernatural activities, psychological attacks or anything unfavorable to ourselves. Due to its protective function, amethyst has been used to dispel evil for many centuries. Many people wear it as a necklace to avoid negative thoughts and behaviors.

Amethyst helps to solve one of the most challenging problems in meditation - calming the mind and reducing mental tremors. When we stay calm, we can enter a deeper state of consciousness and thus experience profound insights. It can enhance consciousness, relax the physical and mental systems, and help to better understand the guidance of the universe.

Wearing amethyst can bring intellectual reasoning and spiritual insights, bring us good luck, and help us make wise investment decisions. Without a calm mind, meditation will become empty and unpleasant. With the help of amethyst, meditation will become a powerful and inspiring experience.

When conducting amethyst meditation, you can hold a broken piece of amethyst in your hand, or place an amethyst on your forehead (the third eye), or sit beside a large amethyst crystal.
