Fengshui Insights for Optimal Kitchen Layout

Fengshui Insights for Optimal Kitchen Layout

The kitchen is the place related to food and livelihood. It's like the heart of a family, nourishing the body and soul of every family member with the hustle and bustle of three meals a day, and also influencing the family's food fortune, health and wealth. So how can we arrange the kitchen layout to boost the family's prosperity?

I. Color Coordination

The colors of the kitchen should be determined according to its size and personal preferences.

In terms of kitchen size, for a smaller kitchen, it's advisable to use light and bright colors, such as light yellow. This can make the kitchen look spacious and bright, making people feel comfortable.

For a larger kitchen, it's better to choose deep and dark colors, like black, coffee, etc., so that the kitchen doesn't seem too empty.

When it comes to personal preferences, warm-toned colors, such as red, can make the kitchen atmosphere enthusiastic and lively, which helps to boost the family's appetite.

Cold-toned colors, like green, can make the kitchen atmosphere friendly and warm, which is beneficial for maintaining close family relationships.

II. Orientation of the Kitchen Door

The kitchen door should not face the main entrance directly. Otherwise, it will be difficult to accumulate wealth, and it's also likely to affect the family members' health and cause the family's fortune to be unstable.

The kitchen door should not face the bedroom door directly either. Otherwise, the cooking fumes will easily enter the bedroom, which is harmful to the family's health and can also make people irritable.

The kitchen door should not face the stove directly. Otherwise, it will create the situation of "exposing wealth" in feng shui, and the family's money will keep flowing away.

In addition, the materials for the kitchen door should be chosen with strong water-proof and anti-fouling capabilities to prevent it from being corroded by water or soiled by cooking fumes.

III. Placement of the Stove

The stove is the key element in the kitchen. Therefore, whether the stove is placed reasonably or not is related to the feng shui of the whole kitchen as well as the health and wealth of the family members.

The best position for the stove is at the diagonal corner of the kitchen door. This place is easy to gather qi and is beneficial for prospering the family fortune.

The stove should not be located in the northwest of the kitchen. The northwest represents the father or the male head of the household. Since the stove belongs to the element of fire, suppressing the northwest with fire will be unfavorable to the father or the male head of the household and thus affect the whole family's fortune.

The stove should not be placed between the refrigerator and the sink. Otherwise, it will create the taboo pattern of "two waters sandwiching one fire", and the family will encounter continuous disasters.

The stove should not be located under the water pipe. As water conquers fire, it's easy to affect the family's wealth.

IV. Placement of Cooking Utensils

There are numerous and complicated cooking utensils in the kitchen. Their reasonable and orderly placement can not only make it convenient for people to use them but also make the whole kitchen look clean and tidy, thus making people feel comfortable.

The food cabinets, tables, shelves and other items in the kitchen should preferably have rounded corners or edges. Sharp corners should be avoided, or else it will violate the "sharp corner evil spirit".

Kitchen knives, fruit knives, chopsticks, forks and other utensils should be placed in the drawers of the cabinets instead of being hung on the wall or inserted into the knife holder. Exposing these cutting tools will make them become "sharp weapons" and easily bring disasters to people.

The kitchen knife and the chopping board should not be placed together. In particular, it's taboo to insert the knife upside down into the chopping board. Otherwise, it will violate the "knife cutting evil spirit" and lead to misfortunes.

The cooking utensils in the kitchen should not be placed in front of or under the window. Otherwise, it will make the family members feel helpless and lonely.

A warm, clean and reasonably laid-out kitchen is an indispensable part of a happy life. Let's start from every little detail and carefully create our own lucky kitchen, where delicious food and good fortune intertwine, bringing endless warmth and happiness to our family.
